The Fall is over. Ask questions here.

Day 1/0100 HRS

Immediately after the Fall, things aboard Acropolis and the Fleet are grim. Acropolis - with a normal complement of 5,124 has a (believed) surviving complement of 2,019. Added to that are the approximately 700 people rescued from the Neptune, and her final complement is somewhere in the range of 2750 - just over half what she should have. Presently engaged in continuous rescue operations, the general mood on the ship is despair and disbelief, with depression setting in whenever crew aren't immediately active and exhaustion coming swiftly whenever there isn't adrenaline to keep things quiet.

The civilian fleet is twenty-three ships strong when Acropolis jumped away from Neptune, with an approximate population of 19,322 reporting in - though that number is very rough, and may be inaccurate by as much as a thousand people in either direction. The fleet was 24 ships when Acropolis jumped out of Aerelon orbit, but the Pan-Galactic liner 'Delphi Star' did not make it to Armistice Station. Some 700 souls are believed to have been lost aboard her.

Where the military is grim, the civilians are panicked and scared. Most of these ships are refugee carriers, jam-packed with people, and there is an enormous lack of resources to go around. Medical emergencies are common, and without any real medical facilities there is an immediate and pressing health crisis. So far, the Fleet has stayed peaceful, but with the general level of fear unrest is deeply possible. Currently, the Fleet has no organized leadership except the ship captains, who are taking orders directly from Acropolis CIC in de facto martial law.

No accurate count of supplies has been taken throughout the Fleet, though the present rate of jumping and aerospace manuevers will be depleting tylium for both FTL and aviation fuel at a rapid rate. Some ships are reporting shortages of food and water, though other ships appear to have plenty; no accurate count of supplies has been taken throughout the Fleet, and with the current hectic pace of jumps taking one is almost impossible.

Question: What are the remaining Viper and Rapter compliments of the Acropolis?

Related: How many pilots and Raptor crews survived to MAN those fighters?

I had a count in RP, I know, but I don't entirely remember it. I'll establish a new one here.

VIPER TALLY

Acropolis began the Fall with 80 Viper Mark VIIs and 80 pilots.

Some 59 of those craft were disabled and destroyed in the initial attacks, leaving 21 operational Mark VII Vipers, though at present they are not being deployed due to fear of malfunction.

40 Mark II Vipers were taken out of Amphitrite Station; 23 of those planes made it to Acropolis, but 6 of them had to be grounded (including Perseus' Viper, which barely made it back.) An additional 12 Mark IIs were armed from the demonstration squadron arranged by Lida, bringing the total number of Mark IIs deployed to shield the fleet as it prepared to jump to Armistice to 29.

Of those 29, 1 was destroyed in the Fleet shield manuever - people were starting to get the hang of the Mark IIs, and were at the limits of Acropolis' field of fire, giving cover - but another 4 (including Hermes' Viper) went down for repairs, leaving the total over Armistice at 24 Mark IIs up, 10 Mark IIs down and 21 Mark VIIs grounded. The battle over Armistice was quick, and no more birds were lost.

In terms of pilots... Acropolis has a surplus if only the Mark IIs are counted, and a shortage if they are not. Out of a total of 55 birds, there are 23 Acropolis pilots, 13 Neptune pilots (the Neptune 13) and 12 civilian pilots from the stunt team, every last one of which has joined up. That's 48 pilots, and some of them are wounded - presently, there are about 14 in the infirmary, leaving 34 reporting for duty.

Raptor tally coming soon.

I'm lowering the number of Acropolis pilots to like 17 to say that there are 6 or so 'miscellaneous pilots' from Amphitrite who could have been Athena veterans or from another Battlestar or whatever to allow for background flex.

As a Viper pilot, I'm curious as to what we know about the Cylons and if we've made adjustments so that our Vipers don't go blah whenever a Raider takes a peek at us. Which is also to ask, how do we think it happened at this point?

Thanks.

The answer is 'no' and 'no'.

Right now, the Mark VIIs are all grounded, as only the Mark IIs are believed to be Cylon-safe - and so far, no one has made progress on what is going on with the Vipers. Mostly, this is just because there's no time; there are literally no extra hands anywhere due to casualties and the frantic pace of jumping.
