I'm just plopping this here 1) to save Q&A spam and 2) because it seems like it'll be important in the next couple of weeks.
Chatter about cubits!
[Q&A] Alex says, "so is 1 cubit=1 dollar?"

[Q&A] Becca says, "You know, I'm not sure that's so, as apparently Starbuck rips a 1000 cubit note in half in the series."

[Q&A] Themis says, "Unless it just has no worth. But if it has no worth, why gamble with it?"
[Q&A] Becca says, "Oh, no, I mean, I think she ripped it because it was worthless, but how many people even have $1000 bills? Do they even make those?"
[Q&A] Becca meant more, it seems high to even exist in the fleet such that she would have one.
[Q&A] Themis says, "The wiki says that the paper cubits come in denominations of 500 and 1000. That suggests to me an inflated economy."
[Q&A] Becca says, "And they don't have smaller denominations - it's all cubits."
[Q&A] Themis says, "So yeah, I'm with you, Becca.  "
[Q&A] Becca says, "So it's probably more like-- 1000 is $100 or something else based on tens. So uh. Mostly my vote would be just to fudge things and leave them vague in RP!  "

| It's a sort of vague comparison, but I would say that a cubit is worth about ten cents, maybe. We see several different sorts of cubit coins; I imagine they range up to 50 or 100 cubits each, and then it's paper money. |
